Description:

All cadets who wish to apply for the Glider or Power Pilot Training Course (GPTC/PPTC) this year should complete this program. Your academic excellence in the program will be assessed as part of the selection criteria to be considered for interviews. 

 

What is Ground School?

Ground School is aimed at the cadets who are eligible to apply for the Glider or Power Scholarships. However, all cadets are welcomed to attend this course.

Glider Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Minimum age is 16 years old by September 1st of the year the course is taken,

  • Level three successfully completed by the end of the current training year,

  • Grade 9 or equivalent completed by nomination deadline

  • Must be able to obtain a valid category 3 medical certificate from transport Canada

Power Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Minimum age is 17 years old by September 1st of the year the course is taken,

  • Level four successfully completed by the end of the current training year,

  • Grade 10 or equivalent completed by nomination deadline

  • Must be able to obtain a valid category 3 medical certificate from transport Canada

Study Guide:

The Ground School Curriculum is based on the Cadet Flying Scholarship Study Guide. This book is available to purchase at printing cost ($25-30). See the Ground School Instructor for more details.

Transport Canada Medical Certificates:

Cadets who wish to take the Glider Pilot Training Course (GPTC) or the Power Pilot Training Course (PPTC) must make an appointment with a Civil Aviation Medical Examiner.

The experience of the last few years leads us to strongly recommend that you make this appointment as soon as possible.

Please note that a fee is required and no refunds will be issued. Once the certificate is obtained, it is good for a period of 5 years.
