Community Day 24-26 April 2026

Every year the SSC works tirelessly to ensure 706 Air Cadet Squadron has the funds needed for activities and equipment beyond what's provided by DND. Community Days have been an integral fundraiser of the cadet program for generations. It is where cadets stand at the forefront of the community (in front of stores) and explain to passerby's what the cadet program is, who can join and how they can support.

And so we ask all cadets to sign up for at least one shift (or multiple shifts) taking place April 24th - April 26th at various locations in northern Kanata area. Parents are encouraged to participate by supervising their cadet.

These shifts can count towards volunteer hours which can be signed by the AdminO. Deadline to sign up is April 20th so that the schedule can be finalized and released before the shifts start.

  • This activity is for all the level 1 to 4 cadets.

    • Cadets will learn all the skills needed to be a role model for their peers and followers. Cadets will have workshops on drill, uniforms, and also partake in acitivites to build teamwork, problem solving and communication.

If your cadet is having difficulties accessing teams, have them send an email out to 2LT Burke. Cadets are to learn about the teams and events through C365 and their Chain of Command.

Scholarship - Mr Welley Gerard Cyr

1. As indicated on our website, following the generous donation of Mr. Welley Gérard Cyr announced in September 2024, at the provincial level, there are now a total of 28 scholarships of $1,000 available each year. And the value is indexed annually to the cost of living. (The exact amount for 2026 will be confirmed shortly!)

2. For the 2025-2026 year, the distribution remains as follows:

Two (2) provincial scholarships will be awarded to each of the 11 regions of the CPQVO.

• Two (2) additional scholarships will be awarded to the three regions with the highest number of cadets, based on the quotas provided by the RCSU East:

o Ottawa Valley

o Montérégie

o Montreal West

3. Application Deadline: March 21 Regional interviews will take place on March 24 and March 26.

4. The application form (CPQVO-203), CPQVO-224 and photo must be submitted to the SSC Chairperson by March 21.

5. Cadets must attend the interview in uniform.

Scholarship - Chairperson's Award

1. All current documents (including the preparatory guide CPQVO-701) can be found on our website. If necessary, please ensure that you submit or use the latest versions. (CPQVO- 201, 700 and 701).

2. The regional interviews will be held on March 24 and March 26.

3. The application form (CPQVO-201), consent (CPQVO-224) and photos must be submitted to the SSC Chairperson by March 21 (the application deadline).

4. Cadets must attend the interview in uniform.

5. The following competition, the Provincial level competition, will take place the same weekend as the Effective Speaking Competition in Drummondville, Quebec on April 25th.

2026 Presidents Trophy

1. All current documents (including the CPQVO-701 preparatory guide) can be found on our website. If necessary, make sure to transmit or use the latest versions (CPQVO201, 700 and 701)

2. Regional interviews will take place on March 17 or 18.

3. The application form (CPQVO-201), CPQVO-224 and photo must be submitted by March 15.

4. Cadets must attend the interview in uniform.

5. The provincial competition will take place on the same weekend as the Effective Public Speaking competition in Drummondville, Quebec on April 25th.

Notices and Reminders

Air Cadet League of Canada - 50/50 Tickets

Parents, guardians and friends (18+) can help support our Squadron and Air Cadets province wide by purchasing 50/50 tickets. For more information and to purchase tickets visit this link.

706 Canteen

1. Cadets can bring spare change, purchase a snack and support 706.

2. General prices for range from 1-2$ per treat!

Administration:

1. Absences:  If your cadet is unable to make it to training, fill out this form before your planned activity to be marked as excused.

Cadet365 Accounts:

1. Get help:  Cadets should contact 2LT Burke if they are experiencing issues.

2. Newly Registered Cadets: They will automatically receive their account information at the email address on file once they are created.

   
   

Supply

1. Squadron Supply will be open regularly on Thursday evenings between 1900-2100 for uniform needs.

2. Supply will be limited to 3-5 cadets at any time due to space constraints.

3. Supply will be open for special requirements outside of regular training activities to accommodate groups such as Recruits, Drill Team, etc. Advanced notice of these special hours will be made via general announcement.

4. OCdt Ginn will be available via email on Teams for any Supply related questions.

5. Clothing schedule for returning cadets and recruits will be announced.

Drivers (Connaught Training Location)

Due to limited space and lighting at Connaught, please follow the parking flow map and instructions below:

1. Enter via Vickers Gun Rd, then turn left on Brouillette Blvd

2. Drop-off/pickup occurs on Brouillette Blvd after Lewis Gun Rd (near Squadron HQ).

3. For pickup at the end of the night, park in the parking lot (not on Brouillette Blvd). Use caution when exiting the parking lot.

4. IMPORTANT: Exercise caution and patience when driving in this area, as there are many cadets in the parking lot.

5. Exit via Sir Sam Hughes Rd

Drivers are reminded to slow down.

1. Posted speed limits at Connaught:

   1. 50 km/h on Malibar Blvd,

   2. 30 km/h in all other areas.

2. Speed limits are strictly enforced by Military Police.

Journée communautaire 24-26 avril 2026

Chaque année, le SSC travaille sans relâche afin de s’assurer que l’Escadron 706 des cadets de l’air dispose des fonds nécessaires pour les activités et l’équipement au-delà de ce qui est fourni par le MDN. Les Journées communautairesconstituent une activité de financement essentielle du programme des cadets depuis des générations. C’est l’occasion pour les cadets d’être au premier plan dans la communauté (devant les magasins) afin d’expliquer aux passants ce qu’est le programme des cadets, qui peut s’y joindre et comment ils peuvent le soutenir.

Nous demandons donc à tous les cadets de s’inscrire à au moins un quart de travail (ou plusieurs) qui auront lieu du 24 au 26 avril à différents endroits dans le secteur nord de Kanata. Les parents sont encouragés à participer en supervisant leur cadet.

Ces quarts de travail peuvent compter comme heures de bénévolat, qui pourront être signées par l’AdminO.La date limite pour s’inscrire est le 20 avril, afin que l’horaire puisse être finalisé et publié avant le début des quarts.

• la résolution de problèmes

• la communication

Avis et rappels

Air Cadet League of Canada - 50/50 Tickets

Parents, tuteurs et amis (18+) peuvent aider à soutenir notre escadron et les cadets de l'air à travers la province en achetant des billets de 50/50. Pour plus d'informations et pour acheter des billets, visitez ce lien.

Cantine 706

Les cadets peuvent apporter de la petite monnaie, acheter une collation et soutenir le 706.

Les prix généraux varient de 1 à 2 $ par gâterie !

Absences :Si votre cadet ne peut pas se présenter à l’instruction, veuillez remplir ce formulaire avant l’activité prévue afin que l’absence soit considérée comme motivée.

Comptes Cadet365 :

• Aide : Les cadets doivent contacter le SLt Burke s’ils rencontrent des problèmes.

• Nouveaux cadets inscrits : Ils recevront automatiquement leurs informations de compte à l’adresse courriel fournie lors de leur inscription, une fois le compte créé.

Approvisionnement

• L’approvisionnement de l’escadron sera ouvert régulièrement le jeudi soir de 19 h 00 à 21 h 00 pour les besoins en uniforme.

• L’accès à l’approvisionnement sera limité à 3 à 5 cadets à la fois en raison de l’espace restreint.

• L’approvisionnement sera également ouvert pour des besoins spéciaux en dehors des activités d’instruction régulières, afin d’accommoder des groupes tels que les recrues, l’équipe de drill, etc. Un préavis de ces heures spéciales sera diffusé par annonce générale.

• élof Ginn sera disponible par courriel ou sur Teams pour toute question relative à l’approvisionnement.

• L’horaire de distribution des uniformes pour les cadets de retour et les recrues sera annoncé ultérieurement.

Conducteurs

En raison de l'espace limité et de l'éclairage à Connaught, veuillez suivre la carte du flux de circulation et les instructions ci-dessous :

1. Entrez par Vickers Gun Rd, puis tournez à gauche sur le boulevard Brouillette.

2. La dépose/ramassage se fait sur le boulevard Brouillette après Lewis Gun Rd (près du quartier général de l'escadron).

3. Pour le ramassage à la fin de la soirée, garez-vous dans le stationnement (pas sur le boulevard Brouillette). Soyez prudent en sortant du stationnement.

4. IMPORTANT : Faites preuve de prudence et de patience en conduisant dans cette zone, car il y a de nombreux cadets dans le stationnement.

5. Sortez par Sir Sam Hughes Rd.

Les conducteurs sont priés de ralentir.

Limites de vitesse affichées à Connaught :

• 50 km/h sur Malibar Blvd,

• 30 km/h dans toutes les autres zones.
