Welcome and welcome back to all cadets and parents. We hope you had a wonderful summer and had a great start to the school year.


Note for new recruits: We will be welcoming all new recruits and their parents September 19th, 2024 for our recruit night with our info session and registration fair.


Upcoming


Senior Cadet and Staff Meeting

  1. Participants: Senior Cadets, Years 5, 6 and 7 (formally level 5s and up)

  2. Date: Thursday, 5th September 2024

  3. Time: 1900 - 2100 hrs

  4. Location: 4 Lewis Gun, Nepean, ON K2K 2W6

  5. Dress:  

    1. Civilian Attire


Returning Cadets Admin Day and COs Parade

  1. Participants: Returning Cadets Only

  2. Date: Thursday, 12th September 2024

  3. Time: 1830 - 2115 hrs

  4. Location: 5 Brouillette Blvd, Nepean, ON K2K 2W6

  5. Dress:  

    1. C1A, Full Blue Uniform with medals; or if none

    2. C5, Field Training Uniform (FTU); or if none

    3. Appropriate civilian attire ( i.e. black pants, white shirt or polo, black shoes)

  6. Note on footwear: If you don’t have the FTU boots, cadets can wear an alternate pair of black shoes or boots with either uniform.


Recruit Night and Regular Training

  1. Participants: All Cadets, Recruits and Parents of Recruits

  2. Date: Thursday, 19th September 2024

  3. More information to come as details are finalized.  


Advanced Leadership Program (ALP) - Information Day for the Ottawa Zone

  1. Who: All Senior Cadets - Year 5, 6 and 7 Cadets (formally level 5s and up) who are interested in enrolling into the ALP

  2. When: September 21st, 2024 at Rideau Hill Camp (3560 Rideau River Rd, Manotick, ON K4M 1B4))

  3. Goal of activity: 

    1. Provide an overview of the ALP to all eligible cadets in the Ottawa Zone, encouraging enrollment in the optional program in its first year of release.

    2. Create a networking environment among the participating units to support collaboration and knowledge sharing, thereby developing opportunities for senior cadets that will enable them to successfully complete the ALP program requirements within the Ottawa Zone for the 2024-25 training year.

  4. Dress: C5 (FTUs)

  5. What to bring: 

    1. Note-taking material

    2. Snacks 

    3. Filled water bottle

  6. Schedule and timing of this activity is TBC but expected to be all day. Lunch has yet to be confirmed.

  7. Sign up here by 1900 September 11, 2024 

  8. Note: We are possibly having a joint NCM development day on September 22nd making this a two day event. There is a question regarding this to gather interest/availability in the form.

Notices and Reminders


706 Canteen

  1. Bring your spare change, purchase a snack and support 706.

  1. Your snack cravings directly support cadet activities.


Letter to Parents-Guardians from the Squadron Sponsoring Committee


Administration:

  1. Absences: If you are unable to make it to training, fill out this form before your planned activity to be marked as excused.

  2. Cadet365 Accounts:

    1. Get help: Cadets should contact the Administration Officer if they are experiencing issues.

    2. Newly Registered Cadets: They will automatically receive their account information at the email address on file once they are created.


Supply

  1. CI Stevens will advise cadets on Thursdays if they have a uniform to pick up.

  2. To make a uniform request please fill out this form.

  3. Note for recruits: You will be measured on the recruit night or your first night for your FTUs. These can take a couple months to be given out as we have limited in-house supply and order the rest.

  4. For the 2024/25 fiscal year: New cadets will not be issued the blue uniform unless the are joining as level 3. This was a nation-wide directive.


Drivers

Due to limited space and lighting at Connaught, please follow the parking flow map and instructions below:

  1. Enter via Vickers Gun Rd, then turn left on Brouillette Blvd

  2. Drop-off/pickup occurs on Brouillette Blvd after Lewis Gun Rd (near Squadron HQ).

  3. For pickup at the end of the night, park in the parking lot (not on Brouillette Blvd). Use caution when exiting the parking lot.

  4. IMPORTANT: Exercise caution and patience when driving in this area, as there are many cadets in the parking lot.

  5. Exit via Sir Sam Hughes Rd


Drivers are reminded to slow down.

  1. Posted speed limits at Connaught:

    1. 50 km/h on Malibar Blvd,

    2. 30 km/h in all other areas.

  2. Speed limits are strictly enforced by Military Police.
